Who considers the repetitive advertising of Harvey Norman on TV & radio,to being brainwashed?
Q. I consider the constant advertising on all channels of TV & Radio by Harvey Norman as little more than brainwashing. It has reached the point of using the mute button on the remote every time their advert appears on sceen and turning off the radio when I hear it start. On principal due to this constant advertising I will not shop at their stores. I understand there has to be advertising but do not want to be told over and over again during a programme of the many sales and the offers of no payment for long periods of time. There are many others but I find this company the worst. At times the same items are advertised within few minutes of each other. A. Why is it with advertising that we tend to consider ourselves immune to it, while we are worried that everybody else is heavily influenced by it? I've not seen the particular advertisement, but would find it hard to believe that advertisement can have a brainwashing effect.

What's the difference between majoring in Advertising and majoring in Advertising Design?
Q. What's the difference between majoring in Advertising and majoring in Advertising Design? At Syracuse University they are two different majors. Advertising is in the school of public communications, while advertising design is part of the college of arts and sciences...??
Asked by Sophie - Mon May 4 00:42:29 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Advertising Design is the creation of the graphic components in advertising, such as illustrations, package details, visual symbols, print ads, TV commercials, direct mail. Generally, artists ("art directors") take this major. It calls for a lot of design work and requires artistic talent. Advertising is the body of persuasive and informational communications designed to influence the purchasing behavior and/or thought patterns of an audience. Advertising is a marketing tool. Artists (art directors) may major in this, but it is usually majored in by people interested in management, copywriting, and the like.

What is a typical advertising budget for companies shown as a percentage of sales?
Q. what do companies spend on advertising? What is the percentage of sales that a consumer electronics company spends on advertising? How are advertising budgets decided?
Asked by okbye - Mon Feb 20 20:27:27 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This is a very broad scoping question. Each specific industry will spend a different percentage of gross revenue on advertising. If a company has good exposure to a physical location, lets say they are located on a busy street and they are a retailer, they don't need a large budget for advertising. Furthermore, product specific companies will fluxuate advertising costs based on where they are in the product life cycle (Educational advertising costs may be larger than other costs). There are two primary ways that a company can decide budgets for advertising; top-down and bottom-up. Imagine upper management on top and marketers on bottom. In a bottom up situation, the marketers will design the budget and propose it to management. In… [cont.]

A. The fact that you are posting here online suggests to me that you are not ready to start an advertising company. The first step is to get experience in the industry Then move into more contract work. Maybe some small jobs. Depends on what you specialise in. You will build you business through word of mouth and then you can actually bother registering.

Hey, (Bare with me on this one, I'll answer your questions and share some damn good techniques) I own my own marketing company and have been involved in the internet industry for a long time now so am quite clued up/experienced in pretty much all forms of web promotion and marketing. The answer to the question is your profit depends on what you're selling, how well your selling it and who to. Social network advertising can see you reap profits or sew losses due to high advertising costs and low conversions, but they are fantastic sources for traffic!! The reason social network advertising is so effective is that they are places where countless amounts of millions of people go on a daily basis, like everyone watching MTV at the same… [cont.]

A. First up, do you have a website?. If not yours personally, do you have a reference number to or name generated for you to say people are responding to the ads that you have done? If thats sorted, you need to look up "free advertising". Most advertising sites on the net have a spot fro free ads, and you should do up to 20 different sites a day. I am suprised your trainer hasn't given you a list. Don't spam a site though, this will get you banned. create a small ad that states in simple terms what you are offering. Do NOT overdo it, or make it too good to be true. When you go to each different site just copy and paste the same ad in each site. If youare not getting the response you want after a few weeks, you may need to change your wording.… [cont.]

A. there are so many ways to advertise online. The most popular is through google your yahoo. Google is called adwords (do a google search and you will get tons of info on it) and yahoo is I think just yahoo advertising. You create an ad, and link to a website and pay per click. They have special code you can install to find where the click came from, what pages they visited and if they bought from clicking that ad. There are tons of articles on it out there, just go to google adwords and check out what they have there and they have all the info you will never need and pretty much the same applies for most others. You also have cost per impressions (which is how many times the ad is viewed, not clicked, cost per acquisition, which is… [cont.]

How does a Canadian business find an advertising broker in Canada?

A. If you look in the front pages of most Canadian magazines, for instance Canadian Living Magazine it will give a complete breakdown of Departments and contact people for them, including sales and on line sales, etc. If you are interested in advertising in any particular magazine you should find out what companies they deal with. and contact them. I'm sure you could get the info you need from the magazine staff.

A. What aspect of the advertising team will be your specialty? If you have no direct experience, find a smaller company to target. As a new person to the field, you are going to have be able to sell to them to meet their needs specifically. So as you look through job descriptions, look for those specific markers that you will need to elaborate and emphasize in your cover letter. As always, know about the company you are applying for. For example, ABC Advertising has run a classified asking for a specialist or whatever along with skills and experience preferred. With the exception of those that state they want several years experience (versus at least one year), send your resume anyway. If you get an interview, you will need to know the method… [cont.]

A. Are you talking about billboards, or more widely to the light signage that goes on the sidewalk beside premises as well? Both, IMO, should be much more strictly regulated, they are unsightly, and usually contain too much information for a casual drive-by to get any use from anyway. The lit ones not only use energy that, in this current climate, we should be conserving, but also cause light pollution and distract wildlife such as migrating birds. The plastic handmade signs that you see along the roadside are even worse, they really are litter, and highly unfriendly to the environment, those ones should absolutely be banned and offenders fined. Along busy roads there are usually so many billboards that I highly doubt they are effective… [cont.]

How could internet advertising be made better?
Q. I know that nobody LIKES advertising. I agree that the advertising out there sucks and is annoying. So... That's my question. Assuming that we aren't going to pay for all the web sites we use, how could online advertising be changed to be a better experience for users AND more valuable for advertisers so they want to buy it?
Asked by Pixel - Tue Oct 21 12:00:53 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The buyers online use phrases called keywords to search for an item. Thus the advertising that works for both the consumer and the advertiser is the one based on a good keyword research. In addition, the ads have to portray the product in an unbiased and interesting way. A misrepresentation will neither help the advertiser nor the consumer, because it will be exposed sooner or later. An honest ad will bring repeated sales. More on this subject can be found in the following website:

Asked by TETRegime - Fri Sep 5 06:29:37 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Marketing is a broad term for satisfying consumers wants and needs (with a profit for your company). This involves the 4Ps, or in today's terms it is 5 Ps - Product, Promotion (Advertising), Place (Distribution), Price, and People(Target Market). So, essentially, advertising may be seen as part of the promotional aspect of your marketing mix. I hope this helps.

How do free newspapers make money apart from advertising? Are there other streams of revenue?
Q. The Evening Standard (in London) paper recently turned into a free publication. I understand that they did this as they believe the increased revenue from advertising (due to rise in readership levels) will be more than previously received with the cover price. Can they make money in other ways apart from advertising whilst being a free paper? Agent, thanks for your take. I appreciate it. It will be interesting to see if the national papers go down the same route in the future. I guess it will depend ultimately on their readership volumes and moves taken by competitors.

What are the most effective ways of marketing/ advertising my home for sale?
Q. I am trying to sell my home in a somewhat declining neighborohood in Nashville, TN. It is listed with an agent. She advertises in the little home magazines you find in the food stores and the Bob Parks catalog. Of course it is on MLS, and there is a little sign out front with a 2nd sign showing "1 acre". Can anyone suggest effective ways of advertising? I am willing to spend the money if it is worth it.
Asked by Fred Head - Mon Jun 4 13:02:53 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There's not much more you can do at this point. You can try to lower the price, but other than that? This is a buyer's market, and putting more advertising up isn't going to do you any justice. You have an agent working for you--that's the best thing you COULD do for yourself.
