How was one man like Adolf Hitler to blind a whole nation?
Q. How was one men like Adolf Hitler, capable of ruining a whole German nation and bring it to it's knee's? How? I still can't understand that phenomen even so I had European history in my undergraduate studies.

A. Hitler told the Germans what they wanted to hear, and it was much easier to believe him than to look elsewhere. The German people were frustrated and angry in the late 1920s. Through no fault of their own (individually) they were getting poorer and poorer, and their national pride was still hurt from the unfair terms of the 1919 Treaty of Versailles. Hitler told them that other people were responsible for their problems and that he could restore German greatness. Everyone individually knew that he wasn't responsible for many of his problems; the economy tanking wasn't his fault, or his neighbors', etc. So he was happy to finally have someone to blame. And he also had something to look forward to - a future where Germans were… [cont.]

A. "During" the holocaust, nothing happened to him. Additionally, Hitler did not kill himself because he was ashamed of what he had done. He killed himself so the Russians wouldn't get him.

How could Adolf Hitler have been a good person?
Q. I was having this discussion with a friend of mine last night. He claims that Adolf Hitler has been unfairly demonized when in reality he was a good individual devoted to his people(he also said that whites should look up to him as a role model just as blacks do Martin Luther King Jr.) I strongly disagree. What about all the lives that were lost in the Holocaust? Murder is wrong, how could Adolf Hitler possibly have been decent person? All opinions welcome.

A. While nobody is ever 100% good or 100% evil and even the worst men in history have had their positive sides, Adolph Hitler is no role model. Your friend may be a Holocaust denier, in which case you'll have a hard time arguing with him. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke of unity among all the races and reached out to whites, latinos, and asians, while Adolph Hitler spoke of segregation and preserving the so-called "purity" of the Aryan race at the expense of everyone else. King worked through peaceful protests while speaking out against violence. Hitler tried to conquer Europe. There is absolutely no comparison. People of all races should look up to King, not just blacks.

What is a good definition of the highly infamous character of Adolf Hitler?
Q. Towards the end of his natural life, Adolf Hitler, while exercising his short-lived power as undisputed leader of a powerful dictatorship, displayed his deplorable views on the value of human life by senselessly causing the deaths of many germans and other european peoples alike in pursuit of a higly controversial goal. He was a human being, like any one of us. What can we make of this man? Why did he do these things and could he have had any conscience? If so, how?

A. Well, he was obviously an extremely capable and strong leader. You may not agree with his actions, but one must admit that his ability to unify a nation and lead others was remarkable. He was sensibly uncontrolled by others in his antics, and the resaons for his motives are not currently, and most likely never will be known. He was passionate, stronly willed, and completely motivated. This is obvious. His relationship with his mistress, believed to be his secretary, showed his compassion and ability to love and protect. He most likely did what he did because the same reason other leaders do what they do. He believed it was best for the well being of Germany, and possibly the world. He must have had a concious, otherwise he would not have… [cont.]

A. Hitler promised that he would turn Germany into a prosperous country after they were forced to pay for the losses of World War I. The loss of WW1 was a huge blow to Germany and they basically wanted revenge. Hitler was the one who seemed as though would produce it. He was a great speaker, yet everything he said were lies. Nobody in Germany expected the Holocaust and it's sad how people who sponsered Hitler ended up dead. They didn't know better.

If Adolf Hitler did not kill himself and his family and were captured by the Russian soldiers ?
Q. where do you think Adolf Hitler's trail should be at? Jerusalem, Israel Moscow, Russia London, England or the United States and what kind of death penalty should he have?
Asked by Heiliges Roemisches Reich - Mon Oct 13 23:16:22 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think that his trial would have been quite quick, and conducted by the Russians who captured him. He would have been tried at Nuremberg with the rest of the Nazis, and he would have had one of those death penalties that result in the absence of life. Probably hanged.

A. It was terrible for anyone who did not conform to the Nazi ideals. This did not just mean Jews (as an answer above incorrectly states). The Nazis had it in for many other peopel as well, including Slavs, gypsies, homosexuals, communists, Jehovah's Witnesses, anyone mentally or physically handicapped, anyone who did not conform to the Nazi ideology. You were not safe from persecution by any means simply by not being Jewish. Reading the wrong kinds of books, expressing an opinon even slightly contoversial, and you could be doomed. for the people who believed in Hitler and the Nazi ideology (the majority of the German population) it was a time of hope for the future and belief in the perfect human race that Hitler claimed to be creating.… [cont.]

How could Adolf Hitler and other key Nazis possibly think that they were members of the "Master Race"?
Q. Adolf Hitler's ideal German was tall, athletic, blond, and blue-eyed. As we all know, he was dark-haired, swarthy, and unathletic. So was Rudolf Hess. Plus, Hermann Goering was morbidly obese. And not only that, but there was no room in Hitler's Germany for the physically and mentally disabled, but his propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels, had a club foot. None of these guys looked like Norse gods, so how could they think that they were members of the Aryan "Master Race" they thought was the only one fit to inhabit Germany? This is a question about German history, not American politics.
Asked by tangerine - Tue Oct 31 11:28:25 2006 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments

A. An interesting question! Actually tied to the idea of "Survival of the fittest" (Charles Darwin) and Fredrick Nietzche, who writings on the so called master race preceeded the rise of the Nazi 'psyche'. The idea of a master race is as much an objective as it is a description; this in part confirms the anomality of doing away with the infirm and the mentally unfit. This exclusivilty of the select few is a philosophy that many have used and continue to use throughout history as well as today. The idea of being 'one of the elect' or select few tickles our human arrogance to the exclusion of others.

Which leader had the most charisma: Adolf Hitler or Churchill?
Q. I am against nazi and all the evil etc, but i always thought Hitler was a great leader who made me laugh with his brow beating speeches and all of those hand gestures while he ranted and raved. A. Hitler should never be classified as a leader! Hitler should only be classified as a murderous tyrant who really sickened me whenever he spoke! He was a mad man and I would listen to Churchill any day of the week over him! The only grip I felt, when Hitler would speak, is the grip on my remote to change to another channel!
